Melanie Hornik 

Melanie is a published author and the Director of Nestled in the Woods Publishing Inc.. With over 27 years of experience as an educator in elementary schools in Ontario, Canada, she has dedicated her career to working with children and their families. After retiring from her role as an elementary administrator, including 11 years as a principal, she decided to channel her expertise into creating Nestled in the Woods Publishing Inc.

Melanie is the author of Stinky Puppy Adventures: Where's The Roast Beef?, a fun-filled children's book that has already captured the hearts of young readers. She is excited to announce release of the second book in the Stinky Puppy Adventures series, entitled "All About The Stink: Stinky Puppy Adventures". Melanie is also the co-author of the decodable books in the Soundsational Stories: Alphabet Set series.

Melanie is the devoted mom to Fergus who is the inspiration behind the lovable and rather smelly, Stinky Puppy. She lives with her elderly father and little adorable Westie, Fergus in Victoria Harbour, Ontario.

Alissa Shanahan

Alissa is the co-author of Soundsational Stories: Alphabet Set, a decodables series that aligns with programs being used in kindergarten and primary classrooms across Ontario, and addresses recommendations from the Right To Read Report. Alissa's goal has been to ensure that each story has fun and engaging characters that will have your kids laughing while they develop their reading skills to become confident readers who love to read.

Alissa is a dedicated elementary school teacher from Hillsdale, Ontario. She has a strong commitment to student learning and achievement, and a passion for inspiring students to develop a love for reading through engagement with real books. 

Alissa can usually be found in her car driving her two kids to the hockey arena, horse barn, baseball diamond, or art classes. When she's not chauffeuring her kids, Alissa enjoys spending time with her husband and taking the family dog for a walk.
